Unlike a lot of other social media apps like Facebook and Twitter, Instagram gives you the opportunity to be as creative and unique as you want. I’ve been using platforms like Tumblr and Pinterest for years. Although I still love to browse the apps weekly, Instagram is the one I browse daily – like 100 (if not more) times a day. I downloaded Instagram in 2012, before bringing creative ideas to the table was a “thing.” A few years ago I decided to start using my Instagram account for photography and fun curated images! It started with crazy hairstyles (braids and buns) and turned into more of a lifestyle page. It wasn’t performing as well as I had hoped (these things take time, don’t stress if you’re in the same boat) so I decided to ask myself some questions.
1. What’s the overall goal for this account?
2. What do I want others to take from it?
3. How can I be creative while still showcasing my life?
4. What type of aesthetic am I going for?
If you’re looking to build a beautiful Instagram feed I recommend asking yourself these questions too. Here are some tips that I found helpful when started an Instagram.
Be consistent with your content! You want to make sure your followers are seeing your beautiful posts and they’re more likely to see them if you’re posting consistently. I’ve noticed that posting to your Instagram stories helps a lot as well. We all want connection and reality – so this is a great way to build relationships with your followers.
Using filters/presets, and editing the color tones of your photos similarly will give your feed a nice flow.
These Influencers have beautiful warmer toned aesthetics. I always think beachy dreamy vibes
These influencers went with an icier aesthetic. I always think city vibes and minimal color.
Whether you’re a food blogger or a lingerie/fashion brand you can create a story all within the colors of your posts. Vibrant or muted, still incredibly beautiful.
