Best Summer Trends For Gentlewomen Spotted At Pitti Uomo 94

While Streetwear and Athleisure trends are taking by storm the rest of the whole world with their baseball caps, dad sneakers and printed hoodies, there’s still a fortress of dapper men holding on to their dandy souls in Florence, Italy. And ironically enough, that’s an actual fortress, the beautiful Fortezza da Basso, built between 1534 and 1537.

What am I talking about? Pitti Uomo, of course.

Pitti Uomo – Pitti Men – organized and promoted by Pitti Immagine, takes place in Florence twice a year and is basically a four-day menswear trade show, but it’s also way more than that.

The first edition was held in September 1972 and since then Pitti Uomo has definitely helped in the spreading of dandyism to a wider audience while becoming one of the most coveted events in the fashion industry.

Every season inside this fortress follows the same theme. This year was Pop Art and the last edition was Classical Movies. Fashion brands from all over the world gather to Florence to showcase their new collections for editors who are seeking inspiration on what’s trending in dapper street style; while photographers are eager to catch on camera whatever piques their interest – mainly the fashionistas (named in a friendly manner, Pitti Peacocks – check out the Aaron Christian’s Mockumentary on this matter) try their best to impress them.

Of course male street style is the main attraction during Pitti Uomo, but women also get their chance to make their taste and personal style shine. So let’s see what were the best three gentlewomen trends spotted during Pitti Uomo’s 94th season this year.

Couple Goals

Matching t-shirts are so out of date, that’s why Pitti Uomo couples took it straight up to the next level: Matching Suits – and that’s when accessories are supposed to make the difference. What do you think: couples that dress together, stay together?

Unique Straw Hats

It’s no secret straw hats are back with a boom (there is no way you could not have seen at least one photo of the famous “La Bomba” giant straw hat by Jacquemus on social media). This season the straw hat is the perfect key accessory to express your individual style – it’s no longer confined to the association of taking a countryside walk, instead, fashionistas are embracing the wide brims hats, because the weirder the shape the better. Every e-shop now has a wide selection, but if you’re looking for something more unique, Etsy is probably the right way to go.

Linen Volumes

During summer, linen is probably the best fabric you could ever choose to wear because of its many properties, but this season it also proved to be the most stylish material and not just for cute feminine dresses, but also for power suits with a twist – and that twist could be a very peculiar volume, a cheeky length or textures clashing.
